NGC 6008 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB (r) b in the constellation Snake . It is about 222 million light years away from the Milky Way , around 90,000 light years across. Because of their similar distance and direction, NGC 6008 and PGC 56301 can be an interacting pair.
The galaxy was discovered on June 10, 1880 by Édouard Stephan .
