NGC 5992 is a 13.5 likes bright spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type Sab in the constellation Bootes . It is estimated to be 433 million light-years from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of about 115,000 ly.
It was discovered on March 18, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who called it “Two. The nf vF, vS, verified with 300 power. The sp discovered with 300 power, eF, S, iF ”. The second galaxy named is NGC 5993 .
