NGC 5977 is a 13.9 mag bright, lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Snake north of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 366 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 130,000 ly. a. the galaxies NGC 5972 and IC 1130 .
The object was discovered on June 29, 1880 by Édouard Stephan .
