NGC 6004 is a 12.6 mag bright barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type "SBc" in the constellation Snake near the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 175 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 90,000 ly. a. the galaxies NGC 6003 and IC 1142 .
The object was discovered on June 14, 1879 by Édouard Stephan .
