NGC 6020 is a 12.8 likes bright elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E3 in the constellation snake and about 197 million light-years from the Milky Way center. It was discovered by Truman Safford on May 9, 1866 .
The entry under IC 1148 in the index catalog is attributable to Dreyer , who did not recognize that Safford's double observation notes only belonged to one object.
