NGC 6045 (also NGC 6045A ) is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is an estimated 450 million light years away from the Milky Way and is around 175,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Hercules galaxy cluster Abell 2151 . Together with PGC 84720 (also NGC 6045B ) it forms the galaxy pair Arp 71 .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a small companion of high surface brightness on one arm (Arp catalog) .

In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6043 , NGC 6047 , NGC 6050 , IC 1179 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on June 27, 1886 .
