Arp 65 is an interacting galaxy pair of two spiral galaxies with roughly equal masses. The two galaxies are also known as NGC 90 and NGC 93 and are in the constellation Andromeda , with NGC 93 lying east of NGC 90 when viewed from Earth. Arp 65 is about 250 million light years away. Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a small companion of high surface brightness on one arm .
The galaxies were discovered independently by the Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell (October 26, 1854), Heinrich Louis d'Arrest (October 5, 1864) and by Herman Schultz (October 17, 1866).
