NGC 74 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda . It is located a few arc minutes east of VV 166 . It is about 325 million light-years away from the Milky Way , has an estimated diameter of 65,000 light-years, and belongs to the galaxy group VV 166 .

NGC 74 was discovered on October 7, 1855 by RJ Mitchell , an assistant to William Parsons .
