NGC 57 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E1 in the constellation fish on the ecliptic . It is about 250 million light years from the Milky Way and is estimated to be 160,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 4 .

The Type Ia supernovae SN 2010dq and SN 2011fp were observed here.

The object was discovered on October 8, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
