NGC 36 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 275 million light years from the Milky Way and about 175,000 light years across.
The object was discovered on October 25, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
