NGC 59 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Cetus. It is about 18 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter. She belongs to the Sculptor Group , a group of galaxies near the galactic South Pole.
The object was discovered on November 10, 1885 by the American astronomer Ormond Stone .
