NGC 52 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pegasus . This edge-on galaxy is approximately 248 million light-years from the Milky Way and is estimated to be 150,000 light-years across. It has an elliptical companion called PGC 1563523 .
NGC 52 was discovered on September 18, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
