NGC 39 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is an estimated 225 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter . The galaxy is considered a member of the NGC 7831 group ( LGG 1 ).

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 43 and NGC 44 .

The object was discovered on November 2, 1790 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
