NGC 22 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Pegasus at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 379 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 145,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1 , NGC 2 , NGC 16 , among others .
The object was discovered on October 2, 1883 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan .
