NGC 14 = Arp 235 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble type IBm in the constellation Pegasus north of the celestial equator . It's about 45 million light years away from us and about 30,000 light years across.
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies showing signs of splitting .
Together with NGC 7814 , PGC 38 , PGC 332 and PGC 889 , it forms the NGC 7814 group.
The object was discovered on September 18, 1786 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
