NGC 7837 is a galaxy of Hubble type S? in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 492 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter . Together with NGC 7838 , it forms the interacting galaxy pair Arp 246 .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies showing signs of splitting . In the same area of the sky there are still u. a. the galaxies NGC 3 , NGC 7834 , NGC 7835 , NGC 7840 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on November 29, 1864 .
