NGC 7823 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Toucan in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 198 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light-years across.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on August 11, 1836 .
