NGC 7831 = IC 1530 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 235 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years across .
The object is named after the NGC 7831 group ( LGG 1 )

The object was discovered on September 20, 1885 by Lewis Swift ( listed as NGC ) and on September 7, 1888 by Guillaume Bigourdan (listed as IC ).
