IC 1525 is a bar-spiral and ring galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is an estimated 233 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter.

The galaxy is a member of the galaxy group WBL 729 , a group of gravitationally bound galaxies with an average radial velocity of about 5020 km / s. This group also includes PGC 2 , PGC 18 , PGC 676 and PGC 73195 .

The supernovae SN 1998cu (Type II) and SN 2009es (Type IIP) were observed here.

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 19, 1887 .
