IC 1521 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E4 in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 385 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on September 16, 1892 .
