John William Brodie-Innes
John William Brodie-Innes (born March 10, 1848 in Downe , Kent , England , † December 8, 1923 ) was a leading member of the Amen-Ra Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in Edinburgh .
His father (1815-1894) was minister in Kent since 1846 . His father was also a friend and confidante of Charles Darwin , who also lived in Kent. As a lawyer he was a member of the Sette of Odde Volumes, a London bibliophile society, and in 1911 its president.
Brodie-Innes wrote novels about witchcraft and wizardry and is believed to have been one of Dion Fortune's occult teachers . Dion Fortune was also promoted by Moina Mathers and Dr. Theodore Moriarty teaches.
Brodie-Innes remained loyal to MacGregor Mathers during the Golden Dawn controversy , and after his death in 1918 published an affectionate obituary in the May 1919 issue of The Occult Review entitled "MacGregor Mathers - Some Personal Reminiscences."
