IC 1529 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is around 305 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 110,000 light years .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7808 and NGC 7813 .
The type II supernova SN 2006du was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 31, 1892 .
