Somme-Yèvre (1793 and 1801 still with the spellings Sommyevre and Sommièvre ) is a French commune with 117 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Châlons-en-Champagne and to the municipality association L'Argonne Champenoise, founded in 2014 .

The municipality of Somme-Yèvre is located 34 kilometers east of the departmental capital Châlons-en-Champagne in the middle of the Champagne sèche , the "dry Champagne". The municipal area of 21.57 km² is characterized by gentle hills covered by large fields. Except for the remains of the alluvial forest, the municipality's terrain is almost treeless. In Somme-Yèvre the river rises Yèvre , the twelve kilometers further north in the Auve flows. In the northeast, the community has a share of the narrow mountain range Crête de la Serre ; in the south-east, near the Mont des Olivettes, at 227 m above sea level, the highest point in the municipality is reached. Somme-Yèvre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dommartin-Varimont in the north, Noirlieu in the east, Contault in the southeast, Bussy-le-Repos in the south, and Moivre in the west.

Economy and Infrastructure
There are 21 farms in the municipality (mainly grain and feed cultivation).
The S 54 trunk road connects Somme-Yèvre with Pogny and Givry-en-Argonne . In the south of the municipality, the D 994, following an old Roman road, runs from Bar-le-Duc towards Reims . In the small town of Sainte-Menehould , 15 kilometers away, there is a connection to the A 4 autoroute from Paris to Strasbourg .
