Dampierre-sur-Moivre is a French commune with 113 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Châlons-en-Champagne and to the municipal association La Moivre à la Coole, founded in 2013 . The residents are called Dampierrots .
geography
Dampierre-sur-Moivre is located 17 kilometers south-east of the departmental capital Châlons-en-Champagne on the Moivre , a tributary of the Marne in Champagne sèche , the "dry Champagne". The surroundings are characterized by hills covered by large fields. Except for the 40 m deep dry valley Fond de Mandre in the south, the 11.55 km² area of the municipality is forestless. The hamlet of Mentarah , located six kilometers southeast of the village of Dampierre, belongs to the municipality . Dampierre-sur-Moivre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Jean-sur-Moivre in the north-east and east, Saint-Amand-sur-Fion in the south-east, La Chaussée-sur-Marne in the south, Francheville in the west and Marson in the north-west.

The village was founded around the year 800 and belonged to the Diocese of Châlons for a long time.

Economy and Infrastructure
A wind farm with five wind turbines is operated in Dampierre-sur-Moivre. There are 16 grain farms and one poultry farmer in the community.
The D54 trunk road leads from Pogny in the Marne Valley to Givry-en-Argonne through the municipality of Dampierre-sur-Moivre . Six kilometers southwest of Dampierre there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 44 from Châlons-en-Champagne to Vitry-le-François . The train station of the city of Châlons-en-Champagne, 17 kilometers away, is on the Paris – Strasbourg line .
