The Moivre is a river in France that runs in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It rises in the area of the municipality of the same name Moivre and generally drains in a south-westerly direction. After around 23 kilometers the river reaches the valley of the Marne at Pogny , where the natural mouth was originally located as a right tributary. In the course of making the Marne navigable, the Canal latéral à la Marne (English: Marne Lateral Canal ) was built in this area, which takes up part of the water flow of the Moivre. The remainder is led in an artificial stream bed parallel to the canal for a further 12 kilometers to the urban area of Châlons-en-Champagne , where it is finally discharged into the Mau stream . This serves to supply the local harbor basin with water and flows into the Marne.
