Sommepy-Tahure is a French commune with 623 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the arrondissement Châlons-en-Champagne and the canton Argonne Suippe et Vesle (until 2015 Ville-sur-Tourbe ). The inhabitants are called Sompinards or Sopinats .

Sommepy-Tahure is located in the Argonne countryside , about 50 kilometers west-northwest of Verdun , on the Py . Sommepy-Tahure is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Étienne-à-Arnes in the north and north-west, Semide in the north and north-east, Aure , Manre and Gratreuil in the east, Rouvroy-Ripont in the south-east, and Minaucourt-le-Mesnil-lès-Hurlus in the South and south-east, Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus in the south and south-west and Sainte-Marie-à-Py in the west.
history
In 1950 the localities of Sommepy and Tahure were merged to form today's municipality.
