Heroin and Your Veins is a dark jazz project founded in 2007 .
history
Janne Perttula founded Heroin and Your Veins as a one-man project. The name was borrowed from an American educational booklet. In 2009 Perttula formed a band for live performances in Finland with drummer Timo Korpi, bassist Kari Nieminen and keyboardist Irene Stachon. The group performed in Tampere , Helsinki , Turku and Hämeenkyrö , among others . Perttula reserved the creative activity. He refers to the emotionally personal character of the music, which he does not reveal to anyone until the pieces have been completely written and produced. The group was occasionally supported by the baritone saxophonist Pentti Luomakangas . The project made its last appearance in 2011 in Tampere. Perttula admitted to the decision to no longer appear live that he had never liked the result sufficiently. Heroin and Your Veins works better for him as a studio than as a live project. Perttula released the third album Lovely Bone Structure as a free download via Bandcamp . Since the release of the fourth album Regret on the Australian label Pimpmelon Records in 2012, there have been no further releases. However, old albums have been reissued.
style
The music of Heroin and Your Vein is commonly assigned to dark jazz . In particular, comparisons with soundtrack composers such as Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti are used to classify the sound. Perttula also refers to Bohren & the Club of Gore , Tindersticks and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as well as film music , jazz and surf rock as influences. The music is described as dark, western-heavy ambient and lounge music.
