Courtisols is a French commune with 2,425 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the arrondissement Châlons-en-Champagne and the canton Argonne Suippe et Vesle (until 2015: canton Marson ).
geography
The municipality is located around 12 kilometers northeast of Châlons-en-Champagne on the banks of the Vesle River . Neighboring municipalities are La Cheppe in the north, Bussy-le-Château in the northeast, Somme-Vesle in the east, Poix in the southeast, Marson in the south, Chepy , Moncetz-Longevas , Sarry and Saint-Memmie in the southwest and L'Épine in the west.
Historical peculiarity
It is believed that after the Battle of the Catalaunian Fields in 451 AD, a large group of Huns founded the village. This is supported by the fact that Courtisols is France's longest street village.
