IC 1501 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 238 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light-years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7699 , NGC 7700 , NGC 7701 , NGC 7710 .
The type II supernova SN 1993ad was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on October 19, 1892 .
