IC 1496 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 236 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7694 , NGC 7695 , NGC 7699 , IC 1492 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2005co was observed here.
The object was discovered by NM Parrish on October 9, 1890 .
