Arp 261 is an interacting pair of galaxies in the constellation Libra . The distance of the object is estimated to be about 80 million light years . Inside Arp 261, SN 1995N , a type IIn supernova, was discovered on May 5, 1995 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of galaxies with irregular clusters .
