NGC 25 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / SB0 in the constellation Phoenix in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 419 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 170,000 ly. The galaxy is a member of the Abell 2731 galaxy cluster.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 28 , NGC 31 , NGC 37 , among others .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on October 28, 1834 .
