NGC 64 is a barred spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBBC in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 330 million light years from the Milky Way and about 155,000 light years across .
The galaxies NGC 47 , NGC 50 , NGC 54 , NGC 61 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on October 21, 1886 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
