NGC 85 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is about 284 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 - 35,000 light years in diameter .
She is a member of the NGC-80 group. A few arc seconds east of their position is IC 1546 (NGC 85A).
The object was discovered on November 15, 1873 by the Scottish astronomer Ralph Copeland .
