NGC 81 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S in Andromeda in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 281 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 79 , NGC 83 , NGC 85 , NGC 86 .

The object was discovered on November 15, 1873 by the Scottish astronomer Ralph Copeland .
