Gerhard Brössner (* 1940 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania ) is an Austrian actor who, with his family, belonged to the Romanian German minority in his native country .

Life

Brössner's theatrical breakthrough came in 1957 at the Deutsches Staatstheater Timisoara , where he appeared in 27 roles from 1957 to 1962. His favorite roles included the role of Andrej in Rosow's "Glück auf den Weg", Kosinsky in Schiller's " Die Räuber " and that of Figaro in Beaumarchai's " Figaro's Wedding ". He also played the role of Mr Sperling in Kotzebue's " Die deutschen Kleinstädter ", in Shakespeare's " Othello ", in the comedy "Story of a Young Marriage" by Jewgenij Schwarz , the role of Mack in Remarque's drama "The Last Station" at the German State Theater Timişoara , in Brecht's “Puntilla and his servant Matti” or “ Mother Courage and her children ”.

Brössner studied drama at the University in Bucharest and moved to Austria with his parents in 1964. The first engagements in small Viennese theaters soon followed.
