The Evangelical Lutheran parish church of St. Markus is located in Killermannstrasse. 56 in the west of Regensburg .

history

After checking in as a settlement area in the post-war period, building activity began. This fact led to the planning of a church in 1958. After the earthworks began on November 13, 1965, the foundation stone was laid on June 11, 1966. Werner Eichberg designed a hexagonal structure that is reminiscent of a rock crystal. The church was consecrated on September 10, 1967.

On May 4, 1970, the parish area was separated from the Trinity Church area and declared a separate parish .

On April 8, 1994, the foundation stone was laid in the western property area for a community center and a kindergarten, which were inaugurated on May 7, 1995.

description

The structure is a hexagonal central building with a church, sacristy and group rooms. The partially glazed triangular and trapezoidal surfaces that run from the side walls to the top of the roof complete the nave as a lifelike replica of a rock crystal. The ceiling window formed in this way allows daylight to flow evenly into the room. The brightly whitewashed unadorned room of the church is harmoniously contrasted by the church interior made of natural wood.

organ

After the services were arranged musically with a harmonium , the former organ of the Bruderhauskirche was installed as an interim organ in 1969 . In the spring of 1978 an organ building contract was awarded to Georg Jann . The organ has eleven  stops on three manuals and pedal . The first manual serves as a coupling manual .

Bell jar

The 500 kilogram bell was cast by Schilling in Heidelberg . It bears the inscription: "Trust the good news".
