Arp 54 is a bar-spiral galaxy in the constellation Whale, which is in optical proximity to the object PGC 9107 . The galaxy is estimated to be 581 million light years from the Milky Way .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a small companion of high surface brightness on one arm .
