Arp 57 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Haar der Berenike , which is about 806 million light-years away from the Milky Way, which at the end of one of its spiral arms interacts with a smaller object of high surface brightness ( VV 289b ) ( Arp 57 ). The galaxy also appears to be interacting with a smaller companion galaxy (MCG + 03-34-13).
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a small companion of high surface brightness on one arm .
