Arp 74 = UGC 1626 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Andromeda , which is about 254 million light years away from the Milky Way. At the end of one of its spiral arms, the galaxy has a smaller object with high surface brightness ( 2MASX J02082216 + 4128061 ).
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a small companion of high surface brightness on one arm .
