Viktoria Elisabeth Kaunzner

Viktoria Elisabeth Kaunzner (born May 28, 1982 in Deggendorf ) is a German violinist , composer , poet , music producer and university professor .

Live and act

Kaunzner grew up in the Bavarian Forest and made her solo debut with the Pilsen Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1995 at the age of twelve . She has won numerous young talent prizes at national and international music competitions, including the 1st Federal Prize at Jugend musiziert in 1998 and prizes at the International Kocian Violin Competition.

In 1999 she gave the first performance of the violin concerto by Franz E. Spannheimer , conducted by the composer , at the Prinzregententheater in Munich .

After graduating from high school, she studied music at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with Josef Rissin and Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn , the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler (where she received her diploma), at CNSMD Paris with Olivier Charlier , the Lucerne Music Academy with Sebastian Hamann and at the Musikhochschule Cologne at Zakhar Bron . She studied composition a. a. with Salvatore Sciarrino at the Mozarteum Salzburg , Katja Tchemberdji , music theory with Astrid Bolay and Thomas Daniel and media composition. She also took master classes with Yehudi Menuhin , Igor Oistrach and Natalia Gutman, among others . She studied the baroque violin and recorded works by Giuseppe Tartini .

Kaunzner played her works Mysterium and Silk Road for violin and orchestra with the Jena Philharmonic, EuroArabClassic, Ensemble 20/21 Cologne, Korean Strings. She played as a soloist and chamber musician in Paris, Salzburg, Ljubljana, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Spain. She was also guest concertmaster at the Zermatt Festival of the Berlin Philharmonic and the Korean Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra Seoul.

With the Sinus Quartet she gave the world premiere of the 13th string quartet by her teacher Krzysztof Meyer at the 1st International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch .

Together with the harpist Anna Viechtl, she founded Duo 47/4 for violin and harp in 2003 . Since 2009 she has been a member of the Ensemble Garage for New Music in Cologne.

In 2014 she gave a recital at Mullae Art Center Seoul with her own works and Korean instruments, music by Violeta Dinescu and an arrangement by Cages 4'33 ″ for silent violin, mobile phone and wisdom on cardboard. As a tribute to the reunification of Korea and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, she directed and starred in Milan Mihajlovic's Munich studio while shooting her fusion song Lucid Dreams .

In 2018 she finished her concert Jasmine Rice for violin, Asian instruments, harp, marimba western orchestra and light. This was followed by a CD with Sonatas No. 1 & 2 by Nikolai Medtner and her piece Golden Sponge (Aplysina Aerophoba) for violin, piri, Haegeum, Sheng, percussion & field recordings, a work commissioned by the Ensemble Phase Seoul , with which she also premiered including light show.

Kaunzner has worked with Daniel Barenboim, Sasha Boldachev, Constantinos Carydis, Gamin, Christian Thielemann, Adrian Brendel , Julia Fischer, Peter Ovtcharov, Stefan Temmingh, Florence Sitruk, the Sharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic and Spark .

Broadcasters such as DeutschlandRadio , BR , WDR , Bayerisches Fernsehen , ARTE , TV Korea, KBS, Ucrain TV documented their artistic work.

Since 2013 she has been playing the ex-Midori David violin by Guarneri del Gesù on loan . Otherwise she plays on a violin by Tomaso Eberle (built 1742).

Teaching and jury work

From 2010 to 2018 she taught as professor of violin and chamber music at Kangnam University in South Korea. She also gives master classes in Germany, Korea and the Middle East, including for the Fundación Barenboim-Said in Palestine. In 2014 she founded ViolinSpecialMasterclass (VSM) and gives courses in her Victory Academy Berlin . She was also a juror at competitions in Europe and Asia.
