NGC 5929 is a 13.3 mag bright spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core (LINER type) of the Hubble type Sab / pec in the constellation Bear Guardian and about 117 million ly from the Milky Way. Together with the much larger galaxy NGC 5930, it forms the interacting constellation Arp 90 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a large companion of high surface brightness on one arm (Arp catalog) .
The galaxy was discovered by John Herschel on May 13, 1828 .
