NGC 5949 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 27 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years across.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on November 28, 1801 .
