NGC 5950 is a bar - spiral galaxy from the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . It is about 122 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered on June 21, 1882 by Édouard Stephan .
