NGC 5919 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E? in the constellation snake . It is an estimated 622 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly. It belongs to a small cluster of faint galaxies, the brightest member of which is neighbor NGC 5920 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on March 30, 1887 .
