NGC 5902 is a 13.2 mag bright galaxy with an active galaxy core (LINER type) of the Hubble type S? in the constellation Bearkeeper .
It was discovered on May 1, 1788 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF, vS, stellar".
