NGC 5916 is a 13.2 mag bright barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa / pec in the constellation Libra and about 100 million light years from the Milky Way.
It interacts with NGC 5915 and was discovered together with it on June 5, 1836 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflecting telescope, who noted "B, S, R, glbM, 15 arcseconds, the preceding of two".
