NGC 5911 is a 14.0 mag bright lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type "S0-a" in the constellation Snake north of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 495 million light years from the Milky Way and about 115,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on June 5, 1880 by Édouard Stephan .
