NGC 5913 is a 13.5 likes bright barred spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SBa in the constellation line and 90 million light-years away from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on April 14, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "eF, pL, resolvable". John Herschel noted "vF, lE, gbM, 25 arcseconds long, 20 arcseconds broad" when he observed with an 18-inch reflector telescope in 1847.
