NGC 5881 = IC 1100 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Scd in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 301 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light-years across.
The Type Ib Supernova SN 2011br was observed here.
The object was discovered on April 26, 1789 by William Herschel (listed as NGC ) and on June 22, 1889 by Lewis Swift ( listed as IC ).
